There was a hitch, though. Amber's hair wasn't long enough to donate to Locks of Love, another nonprofit that provides wigs to chemotherapy patients.
So Amber's mother started looking into other nonprofit groups and hit upon Pantene Beautiful Lengths. Hair donations to Beautiful Lengths have to be only 8 inches long, which is 2 inches fewer than Locks of Love. Amber qualified.
Though Amber couldn't specify that her hair go to another child, the Pantene people assured her it would go to help women. Amber was happy about that, Becknell Williams writes.
“She waited for months for it to grow,” Jan told Becknell Williams. “She donated her long, blond beautiful hair.” Amber's hair was cut by Laura King at JR Renditions in Matthews, S.C.
“I felt good about it,” Amber said, after her hair was cut. Now, Amber's sister Kat is growing her hair so she can donate, too.
