Donate Your School's Leftovers

If you would like to have your kids' schools do some good and help the environment at the same time, seek out a food donation program for your school instead of discarding unused cafeteria food.

If every chartered school (there are 3,600 in the United States) participated in a donation program for an entire school year, the savings would feed one meal to more than 2,000,000 starving people.

A good food donation program with which you can start your inquiries is Feeding America (formerly known as America's Second Harvest) — an organization focused on feeding the hungry. Source: The Green Book.
