Egg on Your Face, but in a Good Way
Egg whites are good for your waistline, and they're also good for your skin.
Here's a recipe to try at home: an egg white and pearl powder facial.
It's a budget-friendly, yet effective way to tighten pores and give your skin some much-needed TLC — especially if you're prone to a bit more oiliness in the humid days of summer.
And yes, it is kind of gross and not at all like the pleasantly-scented oils and aromatherapy facials and masks you'd get at a nice high-priced spa. In fact, I can attest from trying it myself, that it is the very opposite of nice-smelling.
People, it stinks.
But don't let olfactory overload deter you. Your skin will be noticeably tighter, tauter and smooth. If you have access to a Chinatown in your town, go get yourself some pearl powder to mix one egg white with. Pearl powder has been used for centuries in Asia for its skin-beautifying properties. Or you can find it online. (Just be sure to test for any sensitivity before by swabbing your arm with the mixture before slathering it on your face.)
How to do it:
Mix 1 to 2 teaspoons pearl powder thoroughly with one egg white.
Apply to clean face as best you can (it will be runny and very slick).
Lie on bed and relax and try not to talk or move your face for 15 to 20 minutes.
Wash off with warm water and follow with moisturizer. And maybe a spritz of perfume.
