Eli Roth Is Anti-Violence
You read that totally right.
The auteur, currently starring in Tarantino's latest "Inglorious Basterds" is better known for his mega-violent horror films - Hostel 1 & 2 and Cabin Fever - than his sensitivity. Considered to be the man responsible for introducing the sub-genre of "torture porn", Roth has always been quick to defend his filmography as simple entertainment.
However, the actor/director is plenty serious when he stepped behind the camera to direct this peta2 ad to prevent cruelty against animals. According to leading mental health professionals and law-enforcement agencies, perpetrators of violent acts against animals are often repeat offenders who pose a serious threat to all animals, including humans.
"I have been ... forever linked with violence in movies, and that's OK, 'cause to me it was always make-believe," Roth explained in an exclusive PETA interview. "And I always thought, no matter what I am doing on a movie set, there is nothing worse than what's going on in the real world. I mean, people do horrible things to animals."
He has a point. If you know of someone who is abusing animals, report the abuse to the police, animal control, or other appropriate authorities. Seriously.
Some horror fans are hating. Its a little oxymoron-ish that the guy has made a living going overboard with blood, guts and gore would be passionate protecting fuzzy little creatures. But you must check out the video below. In it he talks about how he got involved with PETA and describes a childhood memory of a friend shooting pigeons with a BB gun.
