Facebook Finds You a Job
Spending hours on Facebook when you should be doing something more productive — like looking for a job? Well, Eric Barker has found a way to make your social networking time guilt-free: Make Facebook find your next job.
According to a blog on Arbita, a Minneapolis-based Internet recruiter, Barker is using Facebook to try to get a job at Microsoft. Barker's gone one better than many job seekers who might be posting status updates about their unemployment or sending personal messages to friends. Barker created an ad with the headline "I Want To Be At Microsoft" to appear on the pages of Facebook users who have connections to the software giant. And it looks like he's at least getting some attention. Barker's ad, which touts his Ivy league credentials and media experience, popped up on the Facebook page of Glenn Gutmacher, the Arbita blog's author and former Microsoft employee whose post has gotten picked up by Consumerist and Digg.
Bill Gates doesn't use Facebook, but here's to hoping Steve Ballmer does.
