Bite Into the First Annual Tasty Awards

Now that awards season has kicked off with this week's People's Choice Awards — with the Golden Globes and ultimately the Academy Awards to follow — there's a new game in town (well, San Francisco, anyway) that truly sounds like the award anyone in their right mind would want to win: The Tastys.

SFGate.com reports that the first annual Tasty Awards on Jan. 14, will  "honor excellence in video content that focuses on food, fashion, drink and design." As the world gets smaller, and with it the conduits through which we view it (online, iPhones, iPods, for example) the time seems right for an award that recognizes high-caliber food and fashion content in forums both large and small.

The Food Network's resident hottie chef, Tyler Florence, will be in attendance as will Entourage star (and fierce home cook) Debi Mazar. Award nominees include luminaries such as Meryl Streep (for Outstanding Performance in food flick, Julie and Julia), Tim Gunn (Stylemaker of the Year for Project Runway) and Anthony Bourdain (Person of the Year)

Portions of the show will be streamed live over Justin.tv, with a national broadcast to follow in February.
