FOX Stars Encourage You to "Green It. Mean It."

emilydeschanel.jpgThis year, it looks like NBC won't be the only network supporting Earth Day and actively going green to send an environmental message to their viewers — although it will be hard to top the "Greenzo" episode of 30 Rock. FOX recently launched their "Green it. Mean it." campaign, through which the network hopes to "partner with [viewers] to help take simple steps that will help deliver a better planet to the next generation."

On FOX's green portal, you can find a new tip every day that will help you cut down on paper waste, plastic, power usage and more. Today's tip? "In the course of a year, if everyone in the US composted their kitchen scraps instead of sending them to the trash, the organic waste diverted from landfills would cover the entire city of San Francisco." Stars of the network's hit shows like Lisa Edelstein from House, Emily Deschanel-Fox from Bones, and Jane Lynch from Glee also offer eco-savvy tips in video clips.

The site also links off to other Newscorp and FOX green ventures, including the FOX Green Guide, which includes interesting ways the network has incorporated environmentally-friendly technology into award shows as well as on their production sites. I don't know what Greenzo and GE are cooking up this year, but it looks like FOX has hit it out of the park with their first foray into green-washing the network for Earth Day. I hope FOX translates this online campaign into spots on their shows during Green Week like NBC does. Perhaps the Glee cast can perform a number from Fern Gully?
