Give Peace Day a Chance
Peace Day appears to have some big support.
Next month, the Paris Le Grand Rex will host a Peace Day concert featuring such popular rockers as Lenny Kravitz and Kasabian and support acts like Keziah Jones, Ayo, Olivia Ruiz and Charlie Winston. The Sept. 19 event, occurring two days before the official Peace Day, will likely feature additional headliners and special guests. Kravitz was actually a surprise guest at last year's event, which Jude Law hosted.
Says Kravitz, "I'm delighted to support Peace One Day once again to take the message of Peace Day to the people. Peace One Day is all about uniting the world, and music can drive that message. I'm pleased to be carrying the torch for POD this year."
Last year's event, featuring Peter Gabriel, Bryan Adams, John Legend, Annie Lennox and others, was broadcast to 93 countries and viewed by approximately a quarter billion people. This year's 10th anniversary concert is expected to exceed that number.
Jeremy Gilley, founder of Peace Day, adds, "Awareness creates action and action saves lives. Music is one of the key tools we use to raise awareness of Peace Day, Sept. 21."
