Go Shopping in SoHo and Help the Homeless
It doesn't get much chicer than New York's iconic SoHo, where cute little boutiques are nestled in with luxury designer stores, trendy restaurants and street vendors selling hand-crafted art and jewelry. And now through this Saturday, you can pick up goodies at some of the top stores in the neighborhood, get a great deal and help the homeless all at the same time.
The initiative is called the Soho Stroll and is a collaboration between The Association for Community Employment Programs for the Homeless and the Soho Partnership. Just stop by the stroll's welcome booth on the corner of Spring and Wooster, pick up a $20 wristband, and land discounts (and even a free cocktail or two) at participating stores, which include everything from H&M to Costume National. The $20 goes to help the homeless find jobs and get back on their feet.
The wristband also gets you deals at some of the coolest restaurants in the neighborhood, like Lure Fishbar, so you can plan to spend a whole day shopping, refueling and shopping again. With this many great deals for a good cause, maybe it should be called the Soho Run ...
