Help Score a Critical Goal in the Fight Against AIDS
All the world's soccer fans are focused on the happenings in South Africa today as the 2010 FIFA World Cup kicks off the month-long premiere competition for the world's most popular sport. And while it's huge and highly charged fun to plop onto the couch and fire up the tube to take in the first round action, the folks at Yahoo! Sports and (RED) are hoping that you'll feel like stepping up for some competition yourself.
In doing so, you'll be supporting their fundraising efforts, on behalf of The Global Fund, for one of the world's most pressing public health challenges.
In partnership with (RED), Yahoo! Sports has launched the online game Penalty Shootout for (RED). For today, June 11 only, for every goal scored by folks like you who choose to click and play, Yahoo will donate $1 up to a maximum of $100,000 in support of the goal of eliminating AIDS in Africa.
Think that you can sneak one past the goalie? Well lace up your virtual cleats, step right up and take your best shot. You just might help to score an important public health victory.
EDITOR'S NOTE: We just received word that Yahoo has already hit their $100,000 goal. But you can still play the game here.
