Help the Hungry With a Video Camera

With Thanksgiving coming up, a lot of us are thinking about food and eating. Especially those who don't have enough to fill their bellies. According to Robin Hood Foundation, 1.3 million families in New York City alone depend on food banks and other emergency purveyors to survive. Imagine what that means for the whole country: In 2007, 13 million households were food insecure, says Feeding America.

So basically, a lot of people are hungry, and this is the season to get busy helping them.

The YouTube Video Volunteers program is taking up the charge. In the new round of its citizen-video-making-for-good challenge, the program seeks submissions of homemade videos about organizations that are working to address hunger in America. Submit your video, which must be under three minutes, by November 21 to get a chance for a spot on the YouTube homepage, where the top three videos will be featured at the end of the month.
