Iggy Pop and Patti Smith Support Tibet at Carnegie Hall

Last Friday, Patti Smith, Iggy Pop and other brilliant musicians rocked out at Carnegie Hall for the 20th annual Tibet House Benefit Concert.
Curated by Philip Glass, Tibet House shows have a reputation of bringing diverse, talented and politically-conscious musicians together to raise money and awareness for the plight of the Tibetan culture.
Past musical guests have included Vampire Weekend, Sufjan Stevens, The National, Keb’ Mo’, Sigur Ros and Lou Reed. In addition to Smith and Iggy Pop, this year’s line-up included Regina Spektor and Gogol Bordello.
Perhaps the most moving moment of the evening came when a 15-year-old student, born in a Tibetan refugee camp, took the stage and sang two songs her homeland. Her incredible vocal range wowed the audience.
For the finale, the entire line-up joined Iggy Pop on stage for a rousing sing-a-long, led by Smith. The song: "People Have Power."
They certainly do.
