Inn Step With Richard Gere
I'm sure the last thing you want to read about is another celebrity using their millions to do create something fancy that seems entirely out of your reach.
But this is Richard Gere we're talking about: Pretty Woman, American Gigolo, he's an Officer and a Gentleman, he's also a devout Buddhist (he's in the Dalai Lama's Fave 5) and lends his star power to discussing conflict in Tibet and joining Bill Gates to build awareness of AIDS epidemics rampant in countries like African and India.
Now you can add innkeeper to his resume, which I know you have on the back of your bedroom door.
The 60-year-old silver fox and his wife, actress Carey Lowell, have opened Bedford Post. The house and barn was built in the 18th century and is located just under an hour away, north of Manhattan. Using Alice Waters of Chez Panisse and notable chef Brian Lewis, they have turned the farmhouse into a small luxury hotel, restaurant, bistro and yoga loft.
Gere, a devotee to meditation insisted on the yoga and cafe which opened in late 2008, but he promises it to be more downward dog than tea and crumpet, as the couple told NYMag.com earlier this year "Think of it as Davos on the Metro-North for people like Martha Stewart, and the same kind of speakers who are on the lecture series at the 92nd Street Y. It runs the gamut from academic, spiritual, business, the arts, and not-for-profit."
Our only question is "Will you be there, Richard?"
