iPod Auction Heats Up With Barrymore, Ben And Bateman
Tonic's celebrity DJ iPods have officially been snatched up. If you missed out on Samantha Ronson's winning bid, there's still time to snatch up a trophy of pop culture goodwill, as our auction just keeps on rockin' and rollin'.
From Grey Gardens to Wedding Singer takin' it all the way back to E.T. — this movie darling has her share of music cred too. Ex of Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti, Drew Barrymore delivers a killer lineup of infectious pop and rock tunes perfect for your summer soundtrack. (Yes, there's a Strokes shout-out on her list.) Plus, her sweet "All my love" inscription will make you blush. Blushing feels good. And so does generosity. Which is what your self-indulgent bid is actually all about, seeing as how all proceeds go to support musicians in a post-Katrina New Orleans, via Music Rising. Win-win.
Once Drew's time is up, we have a duo of dreamboats next in line. Ready for this?
Ben Affleck. He of two Bennifer pairings, father of Violet, butt of Aflac duck jokes, Jason Bourne's other half. Megaphilanthropist. Hot-shot turned normal guy. Shockingly awesome director. (Yes, Gone, Baby, Gone blew me away.) What more can I say? This guy's done it all.
Now get the soundtrack to his life — or at least the playlist he wants the public to see — by bidding on his upcoming auction item.
And then the iPod I've been holding my breath for. Jason Bateman. Forget his teen star status. It's his hysterically dry and loveable role as Michael Bluth on Arrested Development that's stolen my heart. (I'm officially blocking his Juno character out of my mind.) I am anticipating a hopelessly charming and clever playlist with a little bit of youthful quirk. Too much to ask for?
Don't forget to keep checking back for more auction updates. Barrymore's is live and the clock is ticking. Affleck and Bateman kick off today. Put your pennies toward a good cause. And make your friends drool while you're at it.
