Yeah, It's Good to Be (Working for) Oprah
You're Oprah Winfrey.
You have what's probably the most-watched talk show on the planet.
You have a net worth, as of September 2008, of $2.7 billion. This amount places you above countries (yes, countries) such as Belize, Liberia and Sierra Leone in nominal gross domestic product.
You've given commencement speeches at multiple universities, including, most recently, Duke University.
You own a custom-made private jet that's worth $42 million.
You endorse books and they become instant best sellers.
Your endorsement of Barack Obama reportedly netted him more than 1 million votes in the presidential election.
And, apparently, you're a pretty good boss, too.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, this past Saturday, Oprah, her staff and their families departed Chicago to go on a Mediterranean cruise, with stops in Spain, Italy, Turkey, Greece and Malta. And she's paying for it. This isn't the first time, either. In 2005, she gave her staff an all-expenses-paid trip to my homeland, Hawaii. Estimated cost of said Mediterranean cruise? About $5,400 per person, according to Chicago-based Best Travel.
Not too shabby, huh?
