Steady As He Throws
Who knew that Jack White was such a baller?
The White Stripes and Raconteurs star is helping kids keep hitting homers at a baseball park in southwest Detroit. White recently donated $170,000 to help Clark Park, where he actually used to play baseball a kid. The donation will obviously go a long way to improve the field and make sure it stays open during the Motor City's leanest years in memory.
Interviewed by The Detroit News, White's former baseball coach Morris Blackwell said, "He was good. Smooth left-handed swing."
Park volunteer Deb Sumner added that he visited the park a few times with his then-girlfriend Renee Zellweger, calling her "Rene Wellzinger, or however you say it."
Nice one, Deb.
