Jobless Man Finds Success Selling Hot Dogs
He may have lost his job, but things are really cooking for Doug Murray now. According to a story on WSBT.com, the Indiana man and his wife, Jacqueline, have made the best of the recession and found success selling hot dogs.
After getting laid off from his job, Murray knew he didn't want to go back to working for a big corporation, so he made a list of professions he might want to pursue. Though hot dog vendor was pretty far down the list, after making a business model and working out the details, Murray discovered that selling wieners in Goshen, Ind. could actually be quite profitable.
So about a week ago, Murray and the Mrs. launched their new venture: Selling hot dogs from a cart on the streets of Goshen, just like the hot dog vendors in New York City. The couple says they enjoy getting to meet new people every day and that the hot dog cart already has a few regular customers.
The Murrays' story proves that even during a recession, thinking outside the box can still create big opportunities.
