Calling All Fashion Police: Kanye and GaGa to Tour!
It's not every day that The View ladies get to break music news like MTV.
Kanye West visited the ABC show recently and dropped a doozy of an announcement. The artist-producer revealed a forthcoming tour with dance-pop hit machine Lady GaGa. As two artists known for outrageous fashion choices and crazy glasses, the tour will literally be a sight to behold!
In talking with Joy, Barbara, Whoopi, Sherri and Elisabeth, the rapper didn't give away many details except that it would be a co-headlining tour. He explained, "She's talented and she's so incredible that she's not an opening act. We're doing our show together with no opening act."
Since his appearance, tour dates have officially been released. The co-headlining tour kicks of Oct. 4 in Buffalo, N.Y.
This would actual be Kanye's first major tour since releasing 808s & Heartbreak last December. GaGa, meanwhile, released her debut disc The Fame last August and became the first artist in a decade to top the charts with her first two singles, "Just Dance" and "Poker Face."
Ironically enough, Kanye even reworked "Poker Face" into a Kid Cudi collaboration called "Make Her Say."
While known for his larger-than-life antics, Kanye is also one of music's most under-the-radar philanthropists. The Kanye West Foundation, formed in '03, partners with organizations like Strong American Schools to help keep minorities in the classroom. Kanye, named one of the top African-American philanthropists by the AAE in 2007, has taken part in countless fundraisers and donated over $500,000 of his own money.
Kanye's most recent community-based event? He performed a "Stay in School" concert in Chicago on June 11 that's dedicated to his late mother. We assume he announced this on Maury Povich.
