Help Desk Support Vendor Also Supports the Needy

Kayako is clearly a company that gets what philanthropy is all about.

The Web-based support desk software and live chat customer relationship service (CRM) provider is offering its products free to nonprofits and other volunteer-based organizations.

The privately held company based in Punjab, India, and Boise, Idaho, has more than 30,000 customers worldwide, ranging from small mom-and-pop shops to government agencies. Its product line features three solutions: SupportSuite, eSupport and LiveResponse. The free offer can save an organization anywhere from $30 a month to $300 for a lifetime license, and there are no hidden fees.

As its website explains, the help desk solutions are free to registered charities and open-source projects.

To find out if your organization or project is eligible, E-mail the company at sales@kayako.com with your profile and any relevant information."As a business, we are acutely aware of our social responsibilities. We are passionate about helping those in need, especially during markedly tough times for charitable and nonprofit organizations," said Jamie Edwards, operations manager at Kayako, in a press statement. "We would hate to think that price is a barrier to entry for these organizations wanting and needing to cut down on their operating costs, which is why we are giving away our help desk software." One beneficiary is the American Motorcyclist Association, which is grateful for the vendor's charity.

AMA IT Director John Smart said the offer is helping his group better manage tech costs.

"The AMA is currently facing many of the same struggles which private industry IT departments are seeing today, because we struggle everyday to control our support costs [...] [Kayako] are putting a World Class support solution in the hands of those who would otherwise consider this option as unthinkable within their current budget," Smart said.
