Klean Kanteen Unveils Their Latest Ingenious Product

There are a lot of ways to tote your water around (see last summer's Water, Water Everywhere), but Klean Kanteen is taking their bottles to the next level.

"We've never understood the point of selling a bottle made from aluminum, a material that has to be lined with a plastic or baked-on enamel to keep chemicals from seeping into drinks," says Klean Kanteen.

After doing away with our fears about aluminum bottles by making theirs out of lightweight, BPA and toxin-free stainless steel, Klean Kanteen developed wine canteens (perfect for picnics where there's no glass allowed) and sippy-cup lids for kids. There are no weird inner linings to hold residual flavors or put you at risk for various diseases. They're easy to clean, responsibly manufactured and Klean Kanteen is even a 1% for the Planet member, meaning that they donate one percent of their sales to a network of 1,940 environmental organizations.

Like them so far? Us, too. And now, there's a Klean Kanteen Wide Insulated bottle, available in 12oz ($22.95), 16oz ($25.95) and 20oz (27.95) sizes. What's special about this bottle is that you could use it for hot coffee one day and chardonnay the next, and never be left with a funky, muddled flavor. Their representative spoke excitedly to us at the latest Gotham Gets Green event in New York City (an expo for eco-friendly products), telling us about the day they discovered that ice from the refrigerator door in their office was still solid in a Klean Kanteen insulated bottle 24 hours later. Whoa. The secret? A double wall with vacuum insulation. Brilliant.

They gave us one to try and we are totally impressed. We can think of about a million uses for this insulated Kanteen, from keeping a cold drink in a hot car to hiking, camping and even just your daily commute with coffee or another hot beverage (it holds heat for up to 6 hours). We love that it works for both hot and cold beverages, that it fits in most cupholders, and that it doesn't have some obnoxious, hippy-dippy design all over it. Please. We are perfessionals, here.
