Young Rock-doc Filmmakers Debut Their Creation

MusicI reported a couple months ago about Kyocera's ALL Access film program, "the first-ever rock documentary program for youth," which brought young people from all over the country to make a film about the Virgin Mobile FreeFest, a free multi-band concert dedicated to raising awareness, action and funds to combat youth homelessness.

The 14 students in the program, ages 16 to 22, went nonstop for four straight days, learning camera skills and interview techniques on the fly. Their dizzying schedule took them to downtown DC to meet homeless kids, all around the festival grounds at Merriweather Post Pavilion, backstage while bands like blink-182 and Public Enemy were playing and into interviews with the likes of Richard Branson.

Now comes the news that they have completed the first installment of their film, which debuted on IFC TV Tuesday evening. The rock doc is available at IFC.com and at the official ALL Access site. The rest of the one-hour documentary will air in a series of weekly episodes through December on IFC TV.
