Linkin Park Keeps on Giving
Linkin Park performed in Taipei last week, but the band members had heavy hearts after seeing the damage caused a few days earlier by Typhoon Morakot. The severe storm hit Taiwan with 70+ mph winds toppling over 10,000 homes leaving citizens trapped in the rubble and mudslides. The band offered immediate help by donating a portion of that night's concert proceeds to the Taiwanese recovery effort.
"Our hearts go out to the families of the victims and we’re praying for the swift recovery of the survivors," said Linkin Park vocalist Mike Shinoda. "Our thoughts are with the Taiwanese people during this difficult time."
Through the band's Music for Relief nonprofit organization, Linkin Park directed the funds to World Vision Taiwan, which has already provided crucial assistance with evacuations, food distribution and relief kits. Back home in America, fans can contribute to the cause by making a mobile donation of $5 by texting Relief to 90999.
As most of our Tonic readers know, Linkin Park is clearly one of the most generous rock acts when it comes to worthy causes. We hope they'll continue to set the standard.
