Mad Men Comes to Brooks Brothers
Talk about meta-advertising. A fictional show about advertising inspires a real-life ad campaign in which the product is endorsed by the show. Did you get all that?
The New York Times reports that cut-and-dry business suit maker Brooks Brothers is adding some swagger to its lineup with a new suit inspired by characters on the cable TV hit Mad Men.
Yup. As if Mad Men mania hadn’t infiltrated pop culture enough, now you can dress like Don Draper or Roger Sterling, and not just for Halloween. The suits, endorsed by cable channel AMC, are “hand-finished, American-made” from “gray sharkskin fabric and its two-button jacket features narrow lapels, diagonal pockets and side vents.” So you can wear it to the office, or just to lounge around the house — smoking, of course.
The suits will be available through Nov. 8 for $998. Get yours now, and you might be an even greater part of the advertising world than you thought: You’ll be a walking ad for both Mad Men and Brooks Brothers. Is your head spinning yet?
