Madonna Gets Ready to Celebrate
Madonna always finds new ways to express herself.
The singer, who boasts a record 37 Top 10 hits and seven chart-topping albums, is set to release a new retrospective collection of her most beloved tracks. Celebration, coming out Sept. 29, includes personally selected tracks like "Express Yourself," "4 Minutes" and "Vogue" that have all been remastered. There will also be a special double-disc set and even a Celebration DVD that features music videos never before released on this format.
The real highlight for Madonna fans, however, are two new songs, including the title track single that was co-produced by Madonna and superstar deejay Paul Oakenfold. The "Celebration" song, which goes to radio next week, will be followed by a video filmed in Italy by director Jonas Akerlund, who previously directed "Ray of Light." She also shot another video, presumably for the second single, in Barcelona a few days later.
Another cool element to the album is the cover art. Ever the visionary, Madonna recruited a street pop artist named Mr. Brainwash to create the design. Brainwash is known for "throwing modern cultural icons into a blender and turning it up to eleven." MBW as he's called — or Thierry Guetta if you're his mother — started out as a French documentary filmmaker but has since ditched the camera for the spray paint can. Now residing in the United States, MBW is an eclectic mix of Shepherd Fairey and Andy Warhol. Check out some of his artwork (notably the President Obama-Marilyn Monroe combo) here.
