Melissa Joan Hart: Totally Sweet
With a name like Melissa Joan Hart it’s not hard to realize that, well, she’s got some heart! The former Sabrina The Teenage Witch star explains it all — just like Clarissa — on her MySpace blog. Her recent posts address issues surrounding her weight loss, new store and her number one passion project: Friends of the Family charity.
First the heavy news … uhh, or perhaps I should now say, the light news? Hart, minus 42 pounds, graced the cover of People Magazine revealing the reason she ditched the weight. Since the suspense was killing me, I checked out the reason, hoping I could add it to my motivation list to get to the gym. She said: “I realized I don’t have to be heavy just because I have kids,” she said. Well, I don’t have kids but I’ll go, in fact … my sneakers are already on my feet!
Melissa is also opening up a new sweet shop called SweetHarts on May 30 in Sherman Oaks, Calif., featuring cake, coffee, gelato, candy, ice cream … and isn’t it ironic? Alanis Morissette would probably agree.
Most important according to Melissa herself, is charity. As she writes on her blog about the Friends of the Family charity:
“In a year like this, when everyone is hurting financially and emotionally, this group helps people stay out of crisis. This month alone we have had four attempted suicides among the junior high girls that attend our programs. We are facing cutbacks and some of these kids and families will fall through the cracks.”
The mission of FOF? “To foster strong, self-sufficient families and resilient children by providing effective mental health and human development programs in the greater Los Angeles area.”
Melissa Joan is just so light and sweet and full of Hart!
