First Lady Delivers Toys for Tots

cars_toys.jpgPoll numbers may be challenging President Obama's first year as the leader of the free world, but first lady Michelle is doing a bang-up job for her inaugural holiday activities at the White House.

After giving more than 11 million viewers an intimate look at what the first family has done to the West Wing for the holidays on Oprah's Christmas at the White House, Mrs. Obama has now played Santa, giving to the less fortunate. Today, the AP reports the first lady delivered six large sacks of donated toys to the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign in Quantico. Showing off the benefits of having the most talked about biceps in America, she even carried two of the sacks herself, according to the Washington Post, and helped Toys for Tots staff sort the gifts. Staff members from the Obama Administration have donated 500 toys so far, with more expected to pitch in.

According to AP, Michelle told Marine Corps public affairs officer Wilma Vaughn, "I'm going to go back shopping because we still have a couple of more days, and we're going to pick up some more toys." But with so much happening at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, who took charge of picking the toys for the kids? Look no further than first daughters Sasha and Malia, who are reported to have help select toys for kids around their ages.

"We've tried to do our part at the White House," Mrs. Obama told AP, adding that the head of the first family will "be a part of this as long as I am in the White House."
