Not Into Sports? Then Try Munch Madness Instead
If March Madness isn't your thing, why not sink your teeth into Munch Madness, Boston.com's restaurant tournament that takes inspiration from the season-ending basketball tournaments played in March.
Boston.com promises "fierce competition, stunning upsets, laughter, tears, and possibly some betting," as 64 of the city's best eateries face off. Restaurants were chosen by readers themselves and range from tiny corner bistros to the most posh restaurants in town.
Voting for Round 1 wrapped up Friday night, but there's still plenty of time to weigh in, whether you're a resident or occasional visitor. The competition is divided into four brackets: the Knife Bracket, Fork Bracket, Spoon Bracket and Spork Bracket. Here's a roundup of the winners so far in each category.
The big story of Round 1 was the No. 9 Park vs. Redbones matchup, in which 3,262 people voted. No. 9 Park won, dare we say, by a hair. That gives you some idea of how many foodies are participating.
Round 2 voting ends on March 23, and the next two rounds end on March 26 and 29. The Final Four will face off through April 1.
Voters can argue their case in each bracket, where there are likely to be many a food fight before the Final Four face off.
Now why don't all cities around the country have Munch Madness?
