A Tune a Week

Writing a beautiful, truly original song is certainly hard work. So we were certainly amazed when we heard about one musician who aims to take on a new song every single week!

According to an article in the New York Daily News, 32-year-old Queens resident Jamie Stellini is embarking on an impressive project: To write and record a new song every week and post it on her Web site, theweeklysong.com. Stellini started the musical journey about 11 weeks ago, and so far she's created songs by herself and with other area musicians.

With this project, Stellini is turning a negative life experience into something positive. A while back, Stellini started suffering from manic episodes and was eventually diagnosed with bipolar disorder. The experience caused the musician to stop writing and recording for an entire year. Now, she aims to make up for lost time.

New Yorkers who would like to support Stellini in her endeavor can catch her live at Bowery Electric on October 7th at and Hellgate Social on October 8th.
