Nick Jonas for President

(Writer's Note: I simply LOVE the look on the young woman's face in this picture.)

Nick Jonas is making the rounds on Capitol Hill pushing for more funding and awareness for juvenile diabetes. Jonas himself is a diabetic.

Speaking before a sold-out crowd at Washington, D.C.'s National Press Club on Monday, the youngest Jonas announced "I've always had this dream of becoming president one day," adding he's considering studying political science in college.

Jonas was invited not so much for that status as for his role in raising awareness and funding for the fight against juvenile diabetes. He was diagnosed with the disease in 2005. Jonas and his two brothers, Nick and Kevin have been keeping up with the White House since performing for the First Family during President Obama's star studded inauguration.

They were invited to visit President Obama's daughters back in January. Jonas called the trip "very cool" and "such an honor." "As much as I joke about it, and kind of say it to get a laugh," Jonas said to the attendees about his political ambitions, "It is somewhat serious," he admitted. "I don't know if it will happen," he added.

Jonas told the press club audience he has schooled himself in how to manage his diabetes while on tour but had to adjust his diet to help regulate blood sugar. He wears a diabetic insulin pump on his lower back while he performs.

“It’s one of those things that doesn’t affect every moment of your day, but when it does, it’s the worst timing possible,” Jonas said during a June hearing before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. “It’s a day to day battle and you have to take it one step at a time.”

But seriously, the biggest issue — and something I'm sure Helen Thomas wanted to get to the bottom of — Jonas said at the National Press Club that he does not have a girlfriend and, yes, he would consider dating a fan.

Girls? Study hard. You could be First Lady Jonas!
