NYU Advances Study in Social Entrepreneurship
Social entrepreneurship is the new black. Those who want to turn their business acumen and creativity to a good end are, as I wrote a few months ago, "everybody's favorite people." While the Skoll Foundation's Award for Social Entrepreneurship serves to recognize and celebrate those on the cutting edge, a new fellowship program will advance education in this field.
New York University is offering a graduate fellowship in social entrepreneurship, which provides students $50,000 in aid to attend the Catherine B. Reynolds Foundation Program in Social Entrepreneurship. The fellowship also offers a two-year curricular component. The program, according to its Web site, "is designed to attract, encourage and train a new generation of leaders in public service."
The students, to be selected from New York University, will engage in cross-disciplinary study and gain key experiences and networking opportunities to help them advance their efforts to develop game-changing solutions to societal problems. Any NYU student, however, can benefit from the program by exposure to influential people in the field and cutting-edge research, and access to courses and training in the subject.
