Party Crashing, Reality-Style

n199029609560_61521.jpgA Virginia couple who took party crashing to a whole new level Tuesday have captured the country's attention (and some might say admiration.)

Michaele and Tareq Salahi (pictured left) managed to slip past White House security to shake hands with President Obama in a receiving line during a state reception in honor of the prime minister of India. The couple even managed to get their photos taken with both Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, reports WSJ.com.

The Salahis said they were cleared through security, which means they gave the Secret Service Social Security numbers and place of birth, according to procedure.

The president has asked for a full inquiry into how the couple, who were vying for a spot on a reality-TV show, was able to crash the party. The couple were not seated for dinner.

According to CBS 2 News, the Secret Service released a statement saying: "Protocols were not followed at an intial checkpoint, verifying that the two individuals were on the guest list."

In an interview on the same news program, CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric said security appeared lax.

"I was struck because when I go to the White House to do an interview, the security is much more elaborate to get a temporary press pass. And here it just seemed much more relaxed," Couric said.

It remains to be seen whether the couple will face criminal charges. It's unclear whether the couple's party crashing was even illegal.

The Salahis are trying to get cast on Bravo's reality-TV show "The Real Housewives of D.C." A production company filmed the couple throughout the day Tuesday for Bravo, including a seven-hour long hair-and-makeup session at a Washington salon. Producers were told the couple had an invitation to the event.

And while it's disturbing to think that just about anyone can crash a presidential dinner, we can't be alone in thinking it was a pretty damn bold move. We're also pretty sure it didn't hurt that Michaele is a babe.
