Oh Honey, Honey
The nectar of life is one sweet treat that's also got myriad medicinal uses.
Honey is rich in minerals, vitamins, enzymes and amino acids, but only in it's pure form, unheated and uncooked. It's best to look for "raw" or "unpasteurized" varieties and local is best, if you can find it, because of the reported effects of local honey lessening seasonal allergies.
Care2.com takes a look at Yoga + Joyful Living's 14 healing remedies with honey, but just remember that raw honey is not for infants under 18 months old, the elderly or anyone with a compromised immune system.
These three sound the most promising, if conventional help isn't doing the trick:
For anxiety, drink 1 cup of orange juice with 1 teaspoon of honey and a pinch of nutmeg powder twice daily.
To help reduce the craving for cigarettes, chew small pieces of pineapple with 1/2 teaspoon of honey before smoking.
For abdominal pain, take a mixture of 1/4 teaspoon ground bay leaf, 1/4 teaspoon ajwan (celery seeds), and 1 teaspoon of honey before lunch and dinner daily.
You can also use honey topically, as is it contains natural anti-bacterial and healing properties.
Sweet!
