Old Swimming Pool Feeds Family of Four

Dennis McClung and his family absolutely fell in love with a house in Mesa, Ariz. Everything about it was perfect except for one thing: There was a dilapidated swimming pool in the backyard.
McClung decided to get crafty and in only two days, transformed the 16-by-18 foot pool into a beautiful garden that houses more than pretty flowers. It holds a tilapia pond, a chicken coop and a vegetable garden that grows organic eggplants, tomatoes, peppers, onions, cucumbers, grapes, berries, lemons, oranges and herbs.
It seems like this Web designer should be a professional agriculturist. How did he get to be so knowledgeable and creative? His wife grew up on a farm in Ohio and he worked at Home Depot for 10 years.
"What I would do all day is help people tackle the craziest projects," he said. "People would ask where something is and I would always ask what they're doing."
Eventually, McClung became a Home Depot project manager, drawing up plans for home renovations. Once he moved into his new house, McClung finally got to build his own design and literally eat the fruits of his labor with his family.
