Operation Fairy Dust

Jonisa Albert can now attend her prom — Paris Hilton style. According to Nydailynews.com, 17-year-old Albert "snagged a turquoise drop-waist dress donated by the Hollywood drama queen at an event Wednesday dubbed Operation Fairy Dust."

Two graduates of the Fashion Institute of Techology, Megan Kerrigan and Rashia Bell, began Operation Fairy Dust in 2002 and since its inception the event has attracted high school girls looking to score their dream prom gown. Every April, teens are invited to New York City to select a dress and one accessory they wouldn't have otherwise been able to afford — for free.

Albert had no idea (until someone had told her) that she had picked out the same gown that Hilton had worn to an award ceremony. Albert was not the only young lady picking out a gown. More than 125 other high school teens from around the New York area were able to rummage the racks in search of the perfect attire.

Other actresses such as Chloe Sevigny and high-priced designers including Oscar de la Renta were among those who donated to the charitable cause.

Celebrities aren't the only ones who contribute to the program. Anyone can mail or drop off last season's hot dresses and accessories at Jeeves NY, Cameo Cleaners or Arthur Copeland Cleaners. All dress sizes and styles are accepted.

The program is a part of the New York Benefit & Aid Committee for Kids, Inc. (NY BACKed), which is a nonprofit organization founded by young professionals to help local charities for children through financial contributions and volunteer support. NY BACKed is run completely by individuals who volunteer their time for a notable cause.

Now that Albert has the dress of her dreams (and Ms. Hilton to thank) she is excited to attend prom in her famous frock. She was sure that picking the dress was no accident and is happy that Hilton is her "fairy godmother."
