Panda-Cam Catches Beautiful Moment

The start of life is a beautiful thing, and video cam technology is letting millions relive the experience of giant panda Bai Yun giving birth to her fifth cub yesterday at the San Diego Zoo.

I mean, come on, how often do you get the chance to see a tiny, weeny panda cub get born?

Described as the size of a stick of butter by the Zoo, the cub is being watched over by both its mother and zoo keepers, as well as likely millions of people today thanks to the live webcam.

While it's not yet known whether it's a boy or girl, and isn't named yet, it apparently was a healthy birth.

According to its website, the Zoo has had a "love affair" with giant pandas since two came to visit back in 1987. Since then it's built an exhibit area and Giant Panda Research Station for its panda guests, Bai Yun and Shi Shi, as well as three other pandas. Luckily it can house six, so the newest little one does have a home.
