Go Ahead, Play With Your Food

Kids, you now have another good reason to eat your vegetables.

This week on Capitol Hill, there was one event that seemed to get a bigger rise from the D.C. suits than Sen. Jon Kyl going postal on Judge Sotomayor. It was Playboy Playmates Jayde Nicole and Jo Garcia showing up for a meat-free cookout in lettuce bikinis to promote National Veggie Dog Day. These girls are bunnies, not dogs, and I don't know anyone who eats Oscar Mayer with lettuce, but Nicole and Garcia created quite the buzz for PETA's annual veggie holiday. Video of the appearance — as seen below — features many highlights like some suit doing his best Mystery imitation (minus the silly hat, of course). Regardless, there was no shortage of D.C. dudes who came over to hear what the Playmates had to say (it's a family values thing) about eating meat and cruelty to animals. If only Sarah Palin were ... oh, nevermind.

The, um, lettuce wraps certainly had their desired effect in calling attention to National Veggie Dog Day, so maybe we could recruit these lovely ladies for another cause? Jayde, Jo, any chance you can dress up as overpriced health insurance premiums or windmills?
