Blowhorn for Job Seekers

When all you hear on the dial is right-wing bloviators, testosterone-fueled pranks or bubble gum pop, it can be hard to see the use of radio. But now the folks at Clear Channel -- admittedly a parent company to many of these types of stations -- is giving a little back to the listener.

NPR reports that the radio giant is giving the unemployed air time to announce their skills via a program called Radio Resumes. The stations give each job seeker 30 seconds to talk about their past experience and education. Deejays even give tips on how to sound more polished. In these tough times, job seekers need all the help they can get. The most recent jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows unemployment inching toward 10 percent.

Luckily, all of Clear Channel's 850 stations are participating in the program and 4,000 of these audio resumes are recorded each week. So far, 100 people have found jobs. For more information, contact your local Clear Channel radio station.

Finding employment? Music to our ears.
