Recycling for Cold, Hard Costco Cash
If your household is like mine, you probably have numerous electronic gadgets lying around. By my count, we have two old laptops (both of which could technically be considered operational), four old cell phones, a second-hand PlayStation that rarely sees the light of day and two old DVD players. We'd eventually like to get rid of these items, and now I may have found a great option to do just that.
Costco has started a new online program, one powered by Gazelle.com, where you can trade in used electronic gadgets and get back a Costco Cash Card. Enter the product name, and you'll be directed to an online form where you provide information about the item. Once you've completed the form, the site calculates an offer of how much the item is worth. Depending on the item, Costco may even pay for shipping. After receiving the item, Costco will reimburse you on a Costco Cash Card.
Some items may not be worth anything, but you can still ship the items to be recycled. Or, you can find a list of local recyclers on the site. To take part in this program, you'll need to be a Costco member. If you're not a member, you can use the main Gazelle.com website.
This may just entice me to finally renew my Costco membership.
