Right On!

If you want something done, you’d do well to remember the “right ear advantage,” say Italian scientists. When the right ear receives information, it’s then processed by the left side of the brain, aka the more logical side of the brain. It’s also the side that’s better at processing verbal information.

The study — reported by the U.K.’s The Telegraph — was conducted in nightclubs across central Italy. A team led by Dr. Luca Tommasi and Daniele Marzoli from the University of Chieti asked 176 people for cigarettes. They were significantly more successful — as in, they bummed more cigarettes — when they asked in the person’s right ear as opposed to their left.

As Mama always said, if you want something, you’ve got to ask for it right.
