Let's Get the Party Started (on TV)!
If crowding into Times Square to stand in the freezing cold to watch the ball drop or fighting for a reservation at some over-priced restaurant, or even trying to hail a cab to get to your friend's house no longer sounds like an appealing way to ring in the New Year, well then, curl up with some champagne on your couch and let your TV do the heavy lifting.
Here's a list of what's on tap tonight to help you ring in the New Year from the comfort of your own home, courtesy of SheKnows.com.
Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest, 10 p.m. on ABC
We've already given you the lowdown on this party, and there's no question it's the most popular option. Ryan Seacrest and Fergie of The Black Eyed Peas co-host with Dick Clark. The party is actually happening in two places, with Jennifer Lopez taking the stage in Times Square; while The Black Eyed Peas, Selena Gomez, Robin Thicke and more get the party going in Las Vegas.
New Year's Eve with Carson Daly, 10 p.m. on NBC
Also live from Times Square, Daly gets some help from correspondents Natalie Morales and Allison Stewart. Green Day, Jay-Z, Rihanna are set to perform, as is the cast of the Broadway musical, "Hair."
Billboard’s New Year’s Eve Live, 11 p.m. on Fox
Carmen Electra hosts in Las Vegas, with Eva Longoria and Kim Kardashian set to make appearances. Musical guests include "American Idol" season eight winner Kris Allen and finalist Allison Iraheta, memorable moments from past Billboard Music Awards and a countdown of 2009's Top 5 in music, movies and television. Don't worry, Billboard will also keep tabs on the ball drop in Times Square.
New Year's Eve Live with Anderson Cooper & Kathy Griffin, 11 p.m. on CNN
Anderson Cooper and comedian Kathy Griffin are back at it. 'N Sync's Lance Bass will host from Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, while CNN correspondents Don Lemon, Poppy Harlow, Gary Tuchman, Ed Henry and John Zarrella file reports from Times Square, New York City's annual Midnight Run in Central Park, Honolulu (where the Obamas are spending the holidays) and Key West, Florida.
Red Bull: New Year. No Limits, around 11 p.m. on ESPN
Get some caffeinated action with speed racers Rhys Millen, Robbie Maddison and Travis Pastrana. There's no ball drop, but Patrana will perform the first-ever ramp-to-ramp car jump over water in Long Beach.
PBS Live From Lincoln Center
If classical music is more your speed, check out the New York Philharmonic New Year's Eve Concert with Thomas Hampson. Check local listings for times.
