Rock-N-Golf Fundraiser Puts into Nashville
Music artists and athletes are uniting for a golf tournament that's truly a little bit country and a little bit rock 'n' roll.
Rivergate Studios, which is co-owned by 3 Doors Down's Chris Henderson and 38 Special's Bobby Capps, will launch their first annual Celebrity Rock-N-Golf Tournament on Nov. 9 as the unofficial kick-off party to the CMA Awards week. The event will benefit Lyrics for Life, a charity founded by Sister Hazel's Ken Block to help families affected by pediatric cancer.
Here's the dealio. Groups will be broken into teams for rounds of five-person scramble, which will feature a music artist or athlete paired up with four members of the public who make the necessary charity contribution. The celeb-led teams will then play at the Bluegrass Yacht and Country Club in the Nashville area and then enjoy an all-star jam party that night at 12th & Porter. Whether you are an individual or already have a four-person group, you can sign up online here or email wickedcoolevents@gmail.com for more information.
Celebrity participants include members of 38 Special, 3 Doors Down, Sister Hazel, Styx, Kansas, Bad Company, Firehouse, Nelson, country music star Gary Allan, Grand Funk Railroad's Mark Farner, Slaughter's Mark Slaughter, the Atlanta Braves' John Rocker, the Cincinnati Bengals' Pete Johnson, the Tampa Bay Bucaneers' Derrick Brooks, 3-time NFL Pro Bowler Wesley Walls and actress Debbe Dunning, the former Tool Time Girl on "Home Improvement," among others.
Um, I'd like to sign up for the "Tool Time" team please.
Says Capps of 38 Special, "I am very lucky to have had some good things happen for me in my life. In celebration of that, I wanted to give something back. Lyrics for Life is a great foundation with a wonderful leader. We are throwing a party to raise money for kids with cancer. It's a win-win combo."
