Bullock Pulls Out of Oil Spill PSA

Academy Award-winning actress Sandra Bullock asked to be pulled from the Gulf restoration promotion video "Be the One" (at least, temporarily) her publicist announced on Thursday.

The public service announcement flooded with celebrities is promoting the Women of the Storm's Restore the Gulf campaign, urging people to sign a petition asking the government to fully fund the restoration of the Gulf of Mexico.

As a part-time resident of New Orleans, Bullock said she wants to determine the facts about the Women of the Storm's relationship with America's Wetland Foundation, which has received financing from major oil companies, including BP and Shell.

Founder of Women of the Storm Anne Milling said she is disappointed with Bullock's announcement.

"I feel as though no one has given us the opportunity to present the facts about Women of the Storm and what we're about and what we have been about since 2006," Milling said. "Hopefully, in time, they will give us the opportunity to share with them the factual evidence and she will then feel more comfortable in being part of this incredibly successful campaign."

Even though America's Wetland Foundation is chaired by Milling's husband, former chief executive of Whitney Bank, she said Women of the Storm has received no money from the organization or oil companies.
