Seeing-Eye Dog for a Dog

If you ever end up with a blind dog, don't worry, just get him a dog. Apparently, that's how it works in England.

The BBC reports that two dogs found wandering the English countryside after a storm have an almost symbiotic relationship. The dogs are so attached to each other that the staff of Norfolk's Meadowgreen Dog Rescue Centre began calling them Bonnie and Clyde. They refused to go anywhere without each other. (Though as far as we know, they didn’t shoot anyone.)

Clyde, in fact, simply can't go anywhere without Bonnie. He is blind, probably because of a degenerative disease, and depends on his friend to show him his way. According to Cherie Cootes, a rescue center staff person, when Clyde doesn't know where he's going, he positions himself behind Bonnie and rests his chin on her back so she can lead him. She frequently checks to make sure he's behind her, and he won't move without her.

The rescue center put out a call for potential homes for the pair, and over 500 people volunteered. The dogs have now been settled in with their new owners and presumably happily continue their lives as dogs-cum-centipede. That image gives a whole new meaning to "wag the dog."
