The Snuggle Suit: Yep, It's What You Think
I'm beginning to feel like the last creature on earth who doesn't own a Snuggie — sheesh, even freakin' dogs have gotten in on the action — but now there's a product that I can lord over those smug Snuggie wearers: the Snuggle Suit.
In short, it's basically like a Snuggie — or Slanket, for the folks who didn't shell out for the official deal — except more awesome. It's basically a full-length robe with individual slots for your legs (you step into it) and you can choose a model that ties at the waist or buttons up.
We can thank JC Penney for selling the latest in Slanket innovation, and the comfy, yet dorky, product can be yours for a mere $24.99. It's on sale from the original $60 asking price. Apparently that's a pretty good deal considering it earned 4.8 out of 5 stars from shoppers who already bought the 100 percent polyester product. (And a tip of the hat to stylelist for pointing out this truly unique product to us.)
The snuggle suit is merely the latest in Slanket innovation that has taken the world by storm in the past year. The Japanese debuted a product that looks alarmingly like some kind of apocalyptic sleeping bag, complete with a hood. And another company called Lippi introduced the very similar Selk bag, which, according to its description on Amazon, is made with durable nylon taffeta and hollow-fiber bonded polyester insulation (whatever that is). Although it's officially billed as "perhaps the most perfect sleeping bag ever for camping," its other uses include "backyard events, going to the stadium, lounging around the house on a cold day." (I dare you to wear one to your next high school football game.)
The Snuggie/Slanket has wormed its way into pop culture this past year (my personal favorite was when Tina Fey's character on 30 Rock cozily wore a Slanket while eating and singing the instant-classic "Workin' On My Night Cheese") and I am relieved the Snuggle Suit ensures that Snuggies won't completely die out in 2010.
Thinking of buying a Snuggle Suit for yourself? If so, please let us know what you think. And here's to a snuggly 2010!
