Sully Takes to the Skies Again
America's most famous pilot will take to the skies once more. According to a New York Daily News story, Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger will return to flying planes for US Airways on October 1st.
In case you've been living under a rock for the past several months, Sullenberger became famous when he gracefully landed a plane in the Hudson River on January 15th after a flock of geese were sucked up into the engine. Avoiding what could have been a huge disaster, Sullenberger saved all 155 passengers on board and quickly gained hero status.
Since then, 58-year-old Sullenberger has been receiving awards, writing his autobiography and going through additional flight training (a necessity when any pilot takes time off). Tomorrow, he will take to the skies along with First Officer Jeff Skiles. Ironically, the two will be flying Flight 1427 from LaGuardia Airport in New York City to Charlotte, NC, the same route as the "Miracle on the Hudson" flight.
Let's hope there's no geese this time, but even if there are, we're sure Sully can handle it.
