Stars Support the Women's Cancer Research Fund

taylorswift.jpgThe stars came out in droves Thursday night to attend the Entertainment Industry Foundation's "An Unforgettable Evening" at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel. Taylor Swift, Christina Applegate and Faith Hill were just a few celebs who attended the event to lend their support to the hardworking foundation, which was founded by Kate Capshaw, Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson (to name a few). The benefit marked the unofficial kick-off to Cancer Awareness Month, also known as February.

According to the Women's Cancer Research Fund's Website: "the Entertainment Industry Foundation is committed to saving lives by raising awareness about the importance of early detection of breast and reproductive cancers, providing funds to advance research on treatment and early detection methods, and supporting community programs that assist the millions of women at risk of or affected by cancer as well as their families."

Through programs like Lee National Denim Day and benefits like the one that took place last night, EIF helps raise money for cancer research and raise awareness for their cause. In addition to Thursday night's benefit, Katie Couric, one of Stand Up to Cancer's co-founders, presented a special segment on last night's CBS Evening News entitled "Where America Stands: Cancer."

In the segment, Couric "looks at the current state of America's fight against cancer, and the types of new, highly targeted treatments being developed that draw on discoveries made as scientists map the cancer genome." She traveled to the renowned Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston for the piece, which is part of CBS news' ongoing series entitled "CBS Reports: Where America Stands."
