Alicia Keys Heads to Essencefest: Essence Magazine could think of "No One" (pun intended) more perfect than the Grammy-winning Keys to headline their annual New Orleans music and cultural festival that celebrates African American empowerment — and, this year, the magazine's 40th anniversary — during the July 4th weekend. Other headliners include Mary J. Blige, Earth, Wind, and Fire and popular local acts.
Allen Iverson Calls a Time Out: The NBA great has announced an indefinite leave from the 76ers to care for his ill 4-year-old daughter. Iverson is one of the greats, and we send him and his family nothing but good thoughts.
U.S.A.! U.S.A.!: Both the men's and women's hockey teams are primed for major Olympic hockey victories. We haven't been this excited about hockey since the "Miracle on Ice" in 1980 and The Mighty Ducks.

Mitch Albom's Journey to Haiti: The best-selling author of Tuesdays With Morrie shared stories about his recent trip to the earthquake-ravaged country with Tonic. The author was able to find hope amidst the destruction, which doesn't surprise us given the uplifting quality of his novels.
