The Killers Release Annual Christmas Song
First of all, Brandon Flowers, lead singer of Las Vegas rock band the Killers, is not leaving the band to go solo. So put down the fruitcake and rest easy.
Secondly, the group has released their fourth annual Christmas single that will benefit (meaning all the proceeds) the Global Fund to Fight AIDS in Africa. The tradition kicked off in 2006 with "A Great Big Sled."
These boys rock, and even with Flowers grandstanding (the "we're going to be bigger than U2" posturing of years ago that got blown out of proportion), they don't take themselves too seriously, but are seriously good at what they do.
So lucky us. They don't disappoint with the new tune "Happy Birthday Guadalupe," released last week digitally through (RED), the video of which features a bearded Luke Perry in the desert like the prodigal 90210 son that he is, wandering around looking for his beloved.
RollingStone.com calls the new song "mariachi-flavored," which makes sense given the "Guadalupe" reference in the title, and offers a sneak peek at the video, which you can see here.
An early Christmas present from the Killers comes in the (saint) nick of time, to help to make up for all that other holiday music we've been hearing since Halloween.
