A View to a Kill(er)
It's hard to find an American band that Brits love more than the Killers, so it's only fitting that the Las Vegas group filmed their first live DVD at London's Royal Albert Hall. The performance, recorded over two nights last July, features 80 minutes of live music footage. "Live From the Royal Albert Hall" hits stores on Nov. 10.
Interestingly, the band had the option to record their massive U.K. arena shows, where they sold 150,000 tickets in just two hours. Instead, the Killers wanted to play a more intimate venue that had special meaning to them, namely Royal Albert Hall, where they also launched their "Day & Age" album last November. Queen Victoria built this historic venue in memory of the prince nearly 140 years ago.
For those who want to see large-scale venue footage, "Live From the Royal Albert Hall" includes bonus footage culled from the band's headlining festival appearances, including Oxegen, V and Hyde Park.
The DVD features a cover of Joy Division's "Shadowplay" as well as such popular Killers' hits as "Human," "Somebody Told Me," "Spaceman," "Mr. Brightside," "All These Things That I've Done," "When You Were Young" and even the "Sawdust" track "Sweet Talk." Also included are the behind-the-scenes stuff must people ignore, like interviews with the crew and fans, which are at least exciting for the people who participated in them.
