The Library's Other Ink
There's been some chatter about 18 tattooed librarians supposedly breaking the old librarian stereotype, but isn’t that actually the stereotype: Underneath the serious glasses and pulled back hair lives a wild woman?
Whatever the case may be, these bookish beauties from Texas revealed themselves for a recent Texas Library Association calendar shoot to raise relief money to repair the state's damaged libraries.
The group of active and retired ladies were thrilled to show-off their ink. "We're trying to sell as many as we can, and let people have fun and make them rethink what we stand for and represent, and mainly raise some money for the disaster relief fund," former TLA president Gretchen Hoffman told Austin News 8.
Interestingly, the organization's vanity calendars started last year, when the "Men of Texas Libraries" mugged to raise efforts to support libraries that suffered the wrath of Hurricanes Rita and Katrina.
Maybe its time to renew your library card.
